Deltares and NIRAS are initiating a new Joint Industry Project on edge scour: JIP EROSION!
In this JIP Deltares and NIRAS propose to investigate the impact of seabed dynamics at the edge of scour protections around offshore wind foundations on the performance of the scour protection and other assets, like power cables.
Edge effects are an important driver of the total required extent of scour protection, which has a direct effect on the total required volume of material. Via a combination of physical and numerical modeling, both knowledge institutes want to extend the current parameter space of process knowledge on edge scour to optimize material usage and minimize risk for associated assets.
