General – Interconnector Repair
NKT and BritNed have repaired the BritNed interconnector after a power outage, ensuring minimal downtime of the 450 kV high-voltage DC power cable between Great Britain and the Netherlands.
The fault, which was localised onshore in the Netherlands, was swiftly addressed by NKT and the BritNed repair team, ensuring a quick return to service.
NKT undertook the cut and seal operation of the broken cable as well as provided essential calculations and technical support to BritNed. A new section of the mass-impregnated cable was installed and jointed within less than 20 days after the fault had happened.
