Wind Energy – OWIV Launch

Havfram’s first offshore wind installation vessel, Norse Wind, was launched on 12 February 2025.

Norse Wind will be able to install turbines with a rotor diameter of more than 300 m and XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tonnes (source: Havfram).

Built by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore, Norse Wind was ordered in December 2022, part of a deal that included options for up to three more units.

An option for the second vessel was exercised in April 2023. A keel-laying ceremony for the first vessel took place in April 2024.

The vessels incorporate hybrid drive train technology designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions per installed MW of offshore wind capacity.

Designed by GustoMSC, the NG20000X vessels will be able to install turbines with a rotor diameter of more than 300 m and XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tonnes, in water depths of up to 70 m.
