General – FLNG
Eni has made an agreement with the Chinese contractor, Wison Heavy Industry, to construct and install a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit offshore the Republic of Congo.
When it is up and running, this groundbreaking facility will be the second FLNG unit in the Republic of Congo. The first was the Tango FLNG project. The new FLNG unit is expected to commence LNG production in 2023.
By 2025, the total LNG production on Marine XII will reach 3 million tons per year (over 4.5 billion cubic meters per year) when these two projects are completed.
The FLNG unit will be 380 metres long and 60 metres wide, and will be anchored at a depth of about 40 metres. It will be able to store over 180,000 cubic metres of LNG and 45,000 cubic metres of LPGs (liquefied petroleum gases).
These developments are an important part of the Marine XII gas valorisation plan, which is in line with Eni’s strategy to make the most of gas equity.
The company is showing its commitment to creating sustainable energy solutions and strengthening its position as a key player in the global energy market.
