Fossil Energy – Dongfang

The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has begun production at the Dongfang 29-1 gas field development project in the South China Sea.

The project, wholly owned and operated by the company, is set to bolster China’s energy supply. Located in the Yinggehai basin, the field lies at an average water depth of 68m.

It features a new unmanned wellhead platform and a submarine pipeline, with six development wells scheduled for commissioning.

Built using a standardised and integrated approach, the platform’s optimised equipment layout has significantly reduced project investment while maximising space efficiency.

The produced oil and gas will be transported to the existing Dongfang gas fields’ facilities via the submarine pipeline for processing.

The Dongfang 29-1 field is expected to reach a peak production of 38 million cubic feet of natural gas per day this year.
