Petrobras extends charter agreement for first Tupi FPSO

Saturday, January 25 2025

Fossil Energy – FPSO

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras has agreed to extend the charter and services deal with Japanese player Modec for the Cidade de Angra dos Reis floating production, storage and offloading vessel.

In operation since October 2010, the Cidade de Angra dos Reis FPSO was the first floater to produce from the giant Tupi pre-salt field in Brazil’s prolific Santos basin in a commercial scale.

According to Petrobras, the contract for the Cidade de Angra dos Reis FPSO has been extended by an additional five years, until 2030, when the unit will be decommissioned.

In addition to extending the contractual term, the amendments aim to enable upgrades to the floater, which currently has a production potential exceeding 50,000 barrels per day of oil.
