General – Possible Merger

According to Reuters, France’s Bureau Veritas and Switzerland’s SGS are in merger talks to create a testing and certification giant worth more than $30 billion that would dwarf competitors.

As of Wednesday, Bureau Veritas’s market capitalisation was $13.9 billion, while SGS’s was $19.3 billion.

SGS and Bureau Veritas are working on the final transaction details that could be announced in the coming weeks.

Established in 1828, Bureau Veritas specialises in laboratory testing, inspection and certification services.

In Geneva, SGS provides inspection, verification, testing and certification services.
