Jacket completed for Quiluma Platform offshore Angola

Friday, January 17 2025

Fossil Energy – Saipem

Earlier this week Saipem announced that the jacket for the Quiluma Platform, a crucial component in the NGC (New Gas Consortium) project, has been completed and safely loaded onto a barge.

The transport sailed away from the Ambriz jetty in Angola to the site where it arrived for installation.

The jacket stands out for being the first of its size, with an impressive weight of 2,336 tons and an outstanding length of 97.2 meters.

Its construction, which was completed without any lost time injuries, involved multiple cranes for lifts of over 1,000 tonnes and specialised equipment to execute an innovative erection sequence, supported by a precise dimensional control survey.

Fabrication was carried out by Petromar, a joint venture between Saipem and Sonangol E.P., which achieved a new milestone in its capacity to execute complex projects in Angola.
