US offshore wind farm seeks new delay as turbine search continues

Wind Energy – New Delay

Invenergy has requested a five-month development pause of the 2.4GW Leading Light offshore wind farm off New Jersey – its second request for a delay.

The US company, which is co-developing the project with New York-based EnergyRE, has asked for an extension – until 20 May 2025 – of state regulators’ order approving the project. The approval lays out a timetable for the development.

“This additional time will allow us to continue to navigate ongoing market shifts and supply chain challenges as we work to advance the development of this important project for New Jersey,” said Wes Jacobs, Leading Light Wind project director.
