Monday, January 6 2025

General – Carbon Storage

The North Sea Transition Authority has awarded the UK’s first-ever carbon storage permit to the Endurance site, marking a major milestone on the path to net zero emissions.

Managed by the Northern Endurance Partnership, the site is located 75km off the Teesside coast and could store up to 100 million tonnes of CO₂ over 25 years.

Combined with the government’s recent £21.7 billion investment into carbon capture, the Endurance project signals a groundbreaking step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing carbon storage technologies.
