Wind Energy – South Korea

The Jeonnam 1 Offshore Wind Farm in Korea completed installation of all wind turbines on December 18, 2024.

Copenhagen Offshore Partners, a global leader in offshore wind development and construction, has co-led project development activities for Jeonnam 1.

Jeonnam 1 is a pioneering 96 MW offshore wind farm located in Shinan county off the southwest coast of Korea.

It represents the first privately-led large-scale offshore wind power project in Korea. Construction on Jeonnam 1 began in early 2023 and turbine installation commenced in September 2024. Commercial operations are expected in the first half of 2025.

The Jeonnam 1 Offshore Wind Farm is developed with a local growth mindset. The project team has engaged closely with local communities, businesses, and stakeholders to share development profits, which are revitalizing domestic jobs and supporting the growth of Korea’s national offshore wind industry. The project has established contracts with Korean suppliers and utilizes local ports and facilities.
