Enersea from the Netherlands has designed six cable carousels and loading towers for Dubai-based EPIC contractor Subsea Cable Assets (SCA).

The equipment is intended for Japanese end customer Sumitomo Electric. The carousels will be fabricated at the Fabtech yard in Dubai and subsequently shipped to Scotland where they will be integrated in Sumitomo’s new to be built Scottish cable factory.

Enersea’s scope includes the concept and detailed design of two 800 tonnes carousels, two 1,500 tonnes carousels, and two 5,000 tonnes carousels. Additionally, Enersea is providing fabrication support.

The carousels are currently being manufactured and ready for delivery in Q2 2025.
