Statkraft loses partners ahead of Norway’s 2025 floating wind auction

Tuesday, November 26 2024

Wind Energy – Tender Norway

Statkraft is ‘assessing options to participate and succeed’ in the forthcoming 1.5-GW floating wind tender in Norway after each of Ocean Winds and Mainstream Renewable Power confirmed plans to withdraw from their partnership.

“The company has continued ambitions to become a significant offshore wind player in Norway, even after Mainstream and Ocean Winds have decided to withdraw,” a spokesperson for the Norwegian utility said.

In late 2021, Aker and Statkraft joined forces with Ocean Winds to bid for the development, construction and operation of a floating wind farm and associated infrastructure within the Utsira Nord license area in the North Sea which is set to host Norway’s first commercial floating offshore wind farm.

Ocean Winds has informed Statkraft of its decision to prioritise other opportunities in its portfolio and will not participate in the upcoming Utsira Nord auction in Norway.
