Wind Energy – New Installation Vessel

Van Oord’s new offshore installation vessel Boreas has commenced with sea trials during excellent weather conditions.

The Boreas.

For a period of about two and a half weeks, the performance of the vessel and all systems on board will be tested extensively. Important tests are for example speed and turning tests and endurance trials.

After the sea trials, the crane of the Boreas will be tested. With this crane the Boreas will be able to lift over 3,000 tonnes. It will therefore be able to install the next generation of 20 MW offshore wind turbines at sea.
