Wind Energy – Certification

Ocean Winds, the joint venture between EDP Renewables and Engie has appointed Bureau Veritas Polska to carry out the certification of BC-Wind, the 500-MW Polish offshore wind farm it is developing.

The certification involves a thorough assessment of all the project stages including design, production, installation, transport and commissioning.

As part of the process two certificates required by Polish law will be issued: a Design Conformity Certificate, confirming that the design conforms to technical standards, and a Certificate of Permission to Operate, ensuring the compliance of the construction process with the design.

The BC wind farm, located some 23 km north of the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea, is at an advanced stage of development. The project has already an environmental decision for the offshore and onshore parts and rights to a contract for difference (CfD). The current priority is to contract key component suppliers and to plan a service base.
