Wind Energy – First Power

Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm, located 15.5 kilometres off the coast of Fife, has begun generating power into the UK’s national grid.

This milestone marks significant progress toward Scotland’s and the UK’s ambitious net zero carbon emissions goals.

Matthias Haag, NnG Project Director, highlighted the achievement as a key step towards fulfilling the UK’s net zero commitments. He also expressed gratitude to local communities for their support throughout the project’s development.

EDF Renewables’ Director of Offshore and Ireland, Ryanne Burges, emphasised NnG’s role in their broader portfolio as a critical project in achieving a clean energy future. Paul Lennon, Head of Offshore Wind and Hydrogen at ESB, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the project’s importance for the UK’s low-carbon energy ambitions and its contributions to the Scottish economy.
