Wind Energy – Lithuania
Lithuanian utility Ignitis Group plans to compete in Lithuania’s re-launched 700-MW offshore wind tender and has started a search for a minority partner to join its bid.
The auction for developing a second offshore wind park in the Baltic Sea is scheduled to start on November 18, with the winner expected to be announced by the end of April 2024.
In April, Lithuania decided to restart its second offshore wind tender with updated conditions after its first edition failed to attract the minimum required number of proposals. At the time, Ignitis was the only company to submit a bid.
The Lithuanian utility, which won the country’s first offshore wind tender, is committed to joining the second competition, noting that it is prepared to proceed independently if it does not secure a partner. In particular, the company is looking for a partner with up to 49% participation.
