Wind Energy – Delay Dogger Bank
The commissioning of the 1.2-GW Dogger Bank A wind project off the coast of North East England has been pushed further back, this time to the second half of 2025, British utility SSE announced.
In its first-half financial report, SSE said that while the project’s completion has been once again delayed, returns from the scheme are not expected to be materially impacted.
The utility provided no reasons for the change in the project’s commissioning timeline.
Dogger Bank A was originally planned to go online in 2024. Back in May, SSE announced that the commissioning had been put off until the first half of 2025, saying construction work had been affected by unfavourable North Sea weather conditions, poor installation vessel availability and supply chain. The latest delay in the schedule comes after two reported blade failures at the GE Vernova turbines during this year.
