Eneco Luchterduinen wind turbine catches fire

Thursday, October 3 2024

Wind Energy – Fire

One of the wind turbines at the Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm off the coast of the Dutch towns of Zandvoort and Noordwijk caught fire over the weekend.

Co-owner Eneco immediately disconnected the turbine in question from the grid.

The coast guard completely cordoned off the area so that the fire could burn out in a controlled manner. No people were present on the turbine.

Except the turbine where the fire was, the wind farm is now fully operational again.
