Wind Energy – Floating Wind
GreenIT and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have announced the launch of Divento, the new partnership naming dedicated to developing a 3 GW portfolio of 5 floating offshore wind projects in Italy.
GreenIT is the Italian renewable energy joint venture between Plenitude (controlled by Eni) and CDP Equity (CDP Group).
Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), a global leader in offshore wind development and construction, is coordinating the development for the Divento portfolio supported by GreenIT, iLS and 7SeasWind Power, the founders of the projects.
Once operating, the plants located approximately 30 km off the coasts of Sicily, Latium and Sardinia, will produce approximately 8TWh of renewable energy, enough to satisfy the electricity consumption of around 2,5 million Italian households, and will contribute to Italy’s decarbonization goals as outlined in the 2030 National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan.
Divento’s offshore wind projects will use floating foundations, in development with innovative technical solutions to minimize environmental and visual impacts. The projects will also benefit from technological and logistic synergies with the other offshore wind initiatives managed within the Divento partnership.
The Divento partnership has the ambition to open the path for floating offshore wind in the Mediterranean and, thanks to its financial and industrial strength, to become a key player in the Italian market.
Divento has already obtained the EIA Decree for 7Seas Med (250MW), one of the partnership’s projects, on 21st March 2024, thus becoming the first EIA approval for a large offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean. This important milestone is the result of five years of active development and stakeholder engagement.
