Wind Energy – Kaohsiung

The Kaohsiung Intercontinental Container Terminal (KICT) Project First Phase Wharf No. A6-B completion ceremony was held on September 11th.

The wharf is now officially completed and represents a total investment of NT$7 billion, jointly funded by Taiwan International Ports Co., Ltd. (TIPC) and Intercontinental Wind Energy Co., (IWE).

It is specifically designed for the production and storage of offshore wind power substructures. Wharf No. A6-B, invested in and built by IWE, is equipped with a 200-meter-long wind turbine substructure assembly yard and a 1,500-ton gantry crane on tracks, which will facilitate the assembly, storage, and export of substructures.

The wharf is also fitted with side docking and stern docking functions, making it suitable for ship cranes and Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), which support the transportation of heavy wind turbine substructures.
