Wind Energy – Heavy Lifting

Sven Utermöhlen, CEO, RWE Offshore Wind, just announced on social media that the HVDC Offshore Converter Platform (OCP) has been installed at the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

With the successful completion the largest lift of its kind to date in offshore wind history is a fact.

Weighing 13,000 tonnes and as tall as an 11-story building, this is also a brilliant demonstration of what RWE can achieve through expertise, innovation and strong partnerships.

Sitting at the heart of the offshore wind farm, this OCP is critical infrastructure that required more than 13 million hours of work and takes more than two and half years to construct. Its successful installation marks a key milestone for keeping our Sofia Offshore Wind Farm on track for full operation in 2026.
