Østensjø Rederi orders new ocean energy support vessel

Wednesday, August 28 2024

General – OESV

Østensjø Rederi has signed a contract with Spanish shipyard Astilleros Gondan for the construction of a new Ocean Energy Support Vessel (OESV).

This marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing fleet modernisation and commitment to new technology.

The 120-metre-long vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design, will be equipped with features such as a hybrid propulsion system, heat recovery technology, and accommodations for 180 people. It is designed to perform a wide range of offshore energy operations, including inspection, maintenance, repair, and cable laying.

Scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2027, the vessel is part of Østensjø Rederi’s broader strategy to enhance operational flexibility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
