Inter-array cables for Borkum Riffgrund

Wind Energy – Borkum Riffgrund

Boskalis’ cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean has set sail for Ørsted’s offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3 in the German part of the North Sea.

The carousel on the deck of our youngest cable-laying vessel stores more than 40 kilometers of inter-array cable, which is being installed in 32 pieces to connect the wind turbines.

The 32 cables are not enough to connect all the wind turbines in the 913 MW offshore wind farm. Therefore, the cable-laying project has been divided into several campaigns.

Earlier this year, the BOKA Ocean installed 24 cables for Borkum Riffgrund 3, and later this year the vessel will carry out a third campaign, installing another 15 cables.
