Wind Energy – Baltica 1
PGE Baltica, a company from the PGE Group, has signed an agreement with ENERGOPROJEKT-KATOWICE to prepare a conceptual design for Baltica 1 Offshore Wind Farm.
The design is an essential element of the investment process related to the construction of offshore wind farms, which aims to select the most optimal power output technology.
The scope of work includes performing electrical analyses, cost and reliability analyses. The documentation created as a result will be used for further design work on power output from the Baltica 1 offshore wind farm.
The PGE Group Offshore Program assumes the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm by 2030, implemented in two stages – Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, with a total installed capacity of up to 2.5 GW. These projects are being implemented together with Ørsted.
Then, after 2030, the Baltica 1 Wind Farm with a capacity of approx. 0.9 GW will join the Group’s portfolio. Thanks to the acquisition of new areas for development in the Baltic Sea, the PGE Group will be able to build further offshore wind farms by 2040.
Together with the currently implemented projects, this will allow it to achieve over 7 GW of installed capacity using offshore technology.
The Baltica 1 offshore wind farm project with a capacity of approx. 0.9 GW is one of three projects currently being implemented by the PGE Group in the Baltic Sea, located approx. 80 km from the shoreline. The project already has a location permit and a connection agreement, and has completed the first full year of wind, sea current and wave tests.
This year, PGE Baltica began testing the ground for the onshore part of the investment and signed an agreement to perform preliminary geotechnical tests of the seabed and to perform geological tests for the onshore-sea drilling, and has also selected a geotechnical and structural designer for the stage of recognizing the ground for the investment and on the export cable route.
Baltica 1 offshore wind farm will be launched after 2030.
