Wind Energy – Geotechnical Surveys
Fugro and Ocean Infinity have won contracts in a tender issued by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) for geotechnical surveys at the DoordeWind Wind Farm Zone sites I and II.
The Doordewind Wind Farm Zone is located approximately 60 km off the north coast of the Netherlands, north of the isle of Ameland. It consists of two sites, each with a planned installed capacity of 2 GW. RVO opened the tender earlier this year.
The contract for geotechnical surveys was divided in 2 lots.
Ocean Infinity won the contract for Lot 1. This contract requires the executing of an offshore seabed campaign including seabed CPTs up to 60m below seafloor (bsf), including SCPTs and TCPTs. In addition, the execution of an offshore vibrocore campaign with samples up to 6m bsf, with an associated laboratory program. The work for this lot is expected to be finished beginning of 2025.
The contract for Lot 2 was awarded to Fugro. This contract requires the execution of an offshore borehole campaign including laboratory testing. The campaign consists of boreholes with target depth of 40-60 m bsf, include sampling, with samples being subject to a laboratory testing program containing static and cyclic testing and MIC testing. The work for this lot is expected to be completed by October 2025.
Earlier this week G-TEC from Belgium was awarded the contract to perform a seabed survey.
