The wind farm is located off the coast of Gippsland in Victoria, Australia.

This license provides RWE with a 7-year development period to obtain all necessary permits. The Kent Offshore Wind Farm is expected to be completed and operational by the early 2030s.

In May of this year, the Australian government issued feasibility licenses for 6 offshore wind projects and announced that another 6 projects would receive feasibility licenses. These 12 projects collectively aim to deliver a total installed capacity of 25 GW of clean wind energy.

Sven Utermöhlen, Chief Executive of Offshore Wind at RWE, stated: “Australia is a significant growth market for renewable energy. RWE has been established in Australia for 10 years and operates one of the country’s largest solar farms. By securing exclusive seabed rights in the Gippsland Basin, we are officially entering the Australian offshore wind market.”
