RWE is making its entry into Australian offshore wind market

Wednesday, July 17 2024

Wind Energy – Australia

RWE Offfshore has been awarded exclusive seabed rights for an area which has the potential to host a wind farm with a capacity of up to 2 gigawatts.

To put this into perspective, this would allow RWE to supply the equivalent of up to 1.6 million Australian homes with green electricity.

The site is located in Australia’s first designated offshore wind zone, close to the Kent Islands in the Bass Strait.

Australia is a market with great potential for renewables and RWE has been active in the country for a decade. With Limondale, RWE is operating one of Australia’s largest solar farms.
