General – Interconnector

Last week, Belgian minister Tinne Van der Straeten and her Norwegian colleague Terje Aasland signed a joint statement to further support the study of a hybrid interconnector for the exchange of green electricity between our two countries.

The signing took place in the presence of HRH Princess Astrid as part of the Belgian economic mission to Norway.

Belgium and Norway share a long and successful history of cooperation in the energy sector. Our countries have highly complementary energy profiles, making this cooperation mutually beneficial.

Norway has significant potential for renewable energy production due to its favourable geographical location.

Belgium, on the other hand, is very well interconnected with the rest of the continental European grid and has considerable expertise in the offshore wind industry.
