General – Strong Start 2024

The Belgian DEME Group has started 2024 exceptionally strong.

The 1Q2024 Trading Update shows that a high activity level and effective project execution lead to this strong start of the year. The orderbook maintained at a high level of 7.5 billion euro. Group turnover for the first quarter was 900 million euro, compared to 672 million euro for the first quarter last year.

DEME secured the most extensive cable installation contract in its history for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1 offshore grid systems in the Netherlands.

Works have begun for the Princess Elisabeth Island, the world’s first artificial energy island, and for the Grand Lahou coastal protection project in Ivory Coast.

Steady progress is being made on the construction of the tunnel elements for the Scheldt Tunnel in Belgium and the Fehmarnbelt project in Denmark.

Growth in its Environmental activities was mainly driven by soil remediation projects in Belgium and dyke reinforcement projects in the Netherlands.

In its Concessions segment DEME maintains focus on projects both in portfolio and under construction, such as Blankenburg in the Netherlands, Port-La Nouvelle in France and port of Duqm in Oman.
