General – Survey
G-tec from Belgium wrapped up a major cable route surveying project for Baltic Power, the first offshore wind farm to be constructed in Poland.
Deployed as a subcontractor for the consortium comprising DEME Offshore, TFKable Group and NKT, G-TEC’s scope covered approximately 130 km of export cables and 127 km of inter-array cables that connect seventy-six wind turbines and two offshore substations.
Combining innovative UXO detection technology, data processing and geophysical data interpretation, the campaign was performed by G-TEC’s DP survey vessel Mainport Geo during winter season and concluded in April 2024.
The extensive engineering and UXO survey allow the consortium to derisk the design and installation of the cable routes to avoid anthropogenic and non-anthropogenic geo-hazards.
The UXO detection campaign covered all the turbines, OSS locations and inter-array and export cable routes and will be followed by an UXO identification and removal campaign.
