Wind Energy – Lithuania
Yesterday Lithuania has terminated its second offshore wind tender and plans to re-launch the process after receiving only one bid from state-backed Ignitis Group.
Ocean Energy Resources announced earlier this week about the participation of Ignitis in the tender of the second 700 megawatt (MW) Lithuanian offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
At least two bidders were required for a successful auction of the 700 MW Baltic Sea project. It is the latest blow to Lithuania’s offshore wind ambitions, with OW Ocean Winds also looking to exit the country’s first 700 MW project.
