RockRose gains gas-prospective license west of Shetland

Saturday, March 2 2024

Fossil Energy – Shetlands

Viaro Energy subsidiary RockRose Energy has secured a 100% interest in license P.2593 west of Shetland in northern UK waters.

The permit is close to RockRose’s part-owned producing fields and infrastructure in the region.

It includes the Tuck discovery, a Cretaceous gas discovery on the northwest flank of the Rona Ridge. Tuck is supported by an amplitude anomaly, which suggests potential for thicker and better-quality reservoir sands updip and along strike from the discovery well.

In addition, the license area contains various prospects such as Boulmer, said to be a drill-ready Devonian structure with up to 800 m of Lower Clair sediments.

RockRose is also present in the Dutch North Sea as a partner in the A15 platform, where operator Petrogas recently produced first gas from a three-well development.
