Wind Energy – Sofia OWF

Aarsleff from Denmark has recently loaded-out and commenced transhipment of the first seventeen (of one hundred) Main Access Platforms (MAPs) for the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

In addition to the MAPs, Aarsleff has been contracted by EPCI contractor Van Oord for the load-out and transportation of Boat Landings and Upper Ladders (the External Access System) produced by Navikon for the same project.

This delivery is the first of six transhipments planned for the Sofia project, with the remaining five shipments scheduled to be completed by the end of Q3 2024.

At 1.4 gigawatts (GW) Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is one of the largest single offshore wind farms in the world. It will comprise one hundred 14 megawatt (MW) turbines that will be sited on Dogger Bank in the central North Sea, located approximately 195 kilometres from the UK’s North East coast.
