Yellow giant has safely arrived in Haugesund

Friday, January 5 2024

General – Transport

After more than two months at sea, the DolWin epsilon offshore wind 23,000-ton HVDC converter platform has entered the port of Haugesund, Norway.

Looking at the cargo and the heavy transport vessel, it is clearly visible that the Mighty Servant 1 has been specially modified for the transport of this green energy converter. At crucial points, the deck has been widened with four outriggers, which support the four massive columns of the DolWin Epsilon.

In the next couple of days, the platform will be floated off the Mighty Servant 1 transport vessel from Boskalis and placed at quayside.

Here, Aibel and partner Hitachi Energy will start the final installation of electrical equipment and commissioning.

DolWin epsilon is expected to leave Haugesund next summer heading for the German North Sea and delivery to TenneT TSO.
