Foundations for Germany’s largest offshore wind farm

Wind Energy – Borkum Riffgrund 3

Ørsted reached a major milestone in the construction of the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3 in Germany.

The wind developer successfully installed the very first foundation. With an installed capacity of 913 MW, Borkum Riffgrund 3 will be the largest offshore wind farm in Germany to date.

When in operation, Borkum Riffgrund 3 will support Germany’s industry in their decarbonisation efforts through so-called corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs).

Combined with Gode Wind 3, the other German project under construction, we’ll install a total of 106 wind turbines on top of the foundations next year – each with a capacity of 11 MW. With a rotor diameter of 200 metres, they’ll be the largest offshore wind turbines in German waters to date.
