SubseaPartner supporting North Sea Balder Future hookup

Saturday, December 9 2023

Fossil Energy – Diving Services

Ocean Installer has contracted SubseaPartner to provide diving services in 2024 for Vår Energi’s Balder Future Project in the Norwegian North Sea.

The first phase of work covers engineering, planning, design, fabrication and commissioning of a new diver launch and recovery system, to be followed by a second phase of surface-supplied diving operations for hookup of the Jotun FPSO.

Currently the platform is at the Rosenberg shipyard in Stavanger, undergoing preparations for re-installation between the Balder FPU and the Ringhorne platform next summer.

The launch and recovery system for divers will be installed inside the FPSO, allowing diving operations inside the turret. The turret mooring system, integrated in the hull, includes a bearing system to facilitate rotation of the FPSO around the turret.

During hookup, a large team of divers will be on location to connect and tension mooring lines, also cutting and recovering excess mooring chains from within the turret.
