At COP28 UN Climate Change Conference RWE showed her committed to significantly accelerating the pace of decarbonising the energy system.
The company presented a significantly increased investment plans into clean technologies. €55 billion net until 2030 – adding 30 GW of renewable energy, batteries, flexible generation and hydrogen projects.
In this regard, RWE is delighting to deepening the partnership with Masdar. Together the companies are forming joint ventures to co-develop the Dogger Bank South offshore projects. At 3 GW in size, they make up RWE’s largest offshore wind development in the UK.
At COP28, RWE and Madar signed the corresponding agreement: Masdar will acquire a 49% stake in our landmark projects while RWE, with a 51% share, will remain in charge of development, construction and operation throughout the life cycle of the projects. T
The construction of Dogger Bank South could start as early as 2025, with the first turbines coming online in 2029 with the aim to fully commission the projects by late 2031.
With Masdar, we have a strong and renowned partner at our side who shares our ambition to further drive the growth of offshore wind energy. Together, we will strongly support the decarbonisation of the UK. It also builds further on our existing relationship, as since 2008, Masdar has been a partner in the London Array project which, at the time of entering operation, was the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
