General – Appointment

Martijn van Haaster has been appointed as the new director of NAM in Assen, the Netherlands, effective January 1, 2024.

Martijn van Haaster.

In doing so, he succeeds Johan Atema. Johan Atema has been a director of NAM since September 2018. His new role within Shell will be announced at a later date.

Martijn van Haaster has worked at Shell since 1996. He held various operational, technical and commercial management roles both in the Netherlands and in Nigeria, Brunei and Russia. Since 2020 he has been Vice President Technical Lean Assets Upstream.

Martijn van Haaster: “It is an honour for me to lead NAM. NAM is and will remain an important oil and gas producer in the Netherlands. It is also a challenge to find the right balance between the concerns and wishes of various stakeholders in the current social playing field and to continue to make an important contribution to the Netherlands’ energy supply. I look forward to getting to know and working with great colleagues. Together we will ensure that NAM remains a source of energy in the years to come.”
