Dominican Republic has +60GW of technical potential for offshore wind

Tuesday, October 3 2023

Wind Energy – Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has +60GW of technical potential for offshore wind, with some areas having excellent wind speeds and water depths suitable for both fixed and floating wind.

The World Bank has been providing the Dominican Republic with support on offshore wind for the past year, including a high-level scoping study to investigate the opportunity.

The Government of DR has requested WB’s assistance to assess its current regulatoryframework and make recommendations on the changes required to deliver offshore wind projects.

The World Bank requires consultancy services to undertake this review, identify the gaps, and make recommendations on regulatory/legislative changes that will be required in DR.

The Request for Expressions of Interest is open and will close on 16th October 2023.
