Wind Energy – Floating Wind

Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall, the ScotWind-winning joint venture partners, have appointed Global Maritime to provide engineering and consultancy services in support of Muir Mhòr floating offshore wind farm.

Global Maritime (GM) will provide engineering and consultancy expertise pertaining to the various nearby ports and logistics options being explored for the execution phase of the project.

GM’s scope will cover key aspects of the project such as wet storage, integration & installation, mooring & anchoring concepts, mooring & iac optimisation, floater assembly & wind turbine marshalling/integration processes.

Having been awarded seabed rights in the January 2022 ScotWind auction, the Muir Mhòr Offshore Wind Farm project is being developed on an accelerated programme.

Located 65 km east of Peterhead on the Aberdeenshire coast, the site’s deep-water conditions are well-suited to floating turbine technology.
