Dredging – Brest France

DEME has successfully completed dredging works in the port of Brest, France.

Trailing suction hopper dredger Scheldt River and cutter suction dredger Ganga were mobilised to tackle 1 million m³ of soft sediments.

The project’s primary objective was to deepen the access channel and berths of the newly constructed quay wall, which will play a role in accommodating the growing number of renewable energy projects in the region.

DEME took an eco-conscious approach throughout the project by reusing all the dredged material to create a new polder that is under final completion.

The 10-ha polder will serve as a handling and storage area for the port’s ongoing development.
