Fossil Energy – FPU

South Korean shipyard HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has received a $1.19bn contract from Australian energy company Woodside Energy to build a floating production unit (FPU).

With a capacity to produce 100,000 barrels of crude oil and 4.1 million cubic metres of natural gas per day, the FPU is due to be built at HD Hyundai’s shipyard in the south-eastern port of Ulsan.

The platform is due to be deployed at an oil field 180km off the east coast of Mexico in the first half of 2027.
