COP files environmental plan for Italian floating offshore wind

Tuesday, June 13 2023

Wind Energy – Sardinia

Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) and Italian utility Eni have submitted the environmental impact assessment for a 504MW floating wind farm planned off Sardinia.

COP is leading development of the Ichnusa wind farm alongside GreenIT – a joint venture consisting of Eni’s renewable energy arm Plenitude (51%) and state-owned investor CDP Equity (49%).

Ichnusa is planned approximately 35km off the coast of Sardinia.

The facility is part of a larger, almost 3GW, floating portfolio COP is leading development for in Italy. The pipeline, which could power approximately 2.5 million Italian households, include the 500MW Tyrrhenian site in Latium off the coast of Civitavecchia, three facilities off Sardinia including Ichnusa, the 500MW Nurax installation, the 1GW Poseidon development, and the 250MW 7SeasMed plant off the coast of Marsala in Sicily.
