Third pile slippage at Yunlin Offshore Wind

Monday, June 12 2023

Wind Energy – Pile Slippage Taiwan

Yunlin Offshore Wind experienced the third incident of pile slippage on June 4th.

Yunneng Wind Power has established a dedicated project team to conduct an investigation and root cause analysis, but cannot provide further information until the assessment is complete.

The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is planned to have 80 units of 8 MW wind turbines, and currently, 28 foundations and 16 turbines have been installed and connected to the grid.

The Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, MOEA has been informed of the incident and an investigation is being carried out by a third-party organization. They hope for the prompt completion of the wind farm.

Yunneng Wind Farm has faced a major financial crisis in the past and has consistently lagged behind in progress, resulting in fines. The Bureau of Energy emphasizes that all fines will be officially settled once the developer is connected to the grid.

Despite the progress challenges and pile slippage incidents at Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm, the company assures that other operations will continue as usual and appreciates the understanding of all parties involved.
