Wind Energy – Monopile Upending Tool

KENC Engineering from the Netherlands has been awarded a contract from an international marine contractor, to design and build a Flange Mounted Upending Tool (FMUT).

The FMUT will be deployed on a jack-up vessel and used for various upcoming projects.

KENC was requested to develop a versatile tool that can assist in the upending, down-ending, and lifting of monopiles with various weights and dimensions.

The FMUT can handle diameters of 7,5 – 8 meters and is designed for a SWL of 1600t.

The FMUT will be delivered in December 2023 including a sea fastening cradle and will be deployed for the first time at a UK offshore wind farm project.
