Biofuels plant in Andalusia

General – Biofuels Plant

CEPSA CEO Maarten Wetselaar announced that his company and Bio-Oils Energy are creating the largest second-generation biofuels plant in southern Europe at our Energy Park in Huelva, Andalusia.

The new plant will enable flexible production of 500,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel for our customers every year, and a reduction in emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional fuels!

The 2G biofuels CEPSA is going to produce will be made from organic waste such as agricultural residue or used cooking oils. Instead, we are taking products that would usually end up in landfills and using them to make clean fuels for travel.

These products will help decarbonise energy intensive sectors such as Aviation, Maritime Transport, Heavy Road Transport and even Chemicals.
