General – CIP Appointment
Martin Neubert will join Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) as Partner, Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and member of the CIP management board.
Establishing the function of a Group CIO at CIP is the natural next step in the scaling of the company in response to several years of portfolio growth and increase of funds under management which has seen CIP establish itself as a global leader in renewable energy investments.
CIP has raised more than EUR 19bn in the past decade with a target of having EUR 100bn under management by 2030. The group is currently preparing the organization for the effort of raising and implementing the next flagship fund, CI V, that will set new standards for greenfield development funds globally. Establishing the position of Group CIO is an important step in this process.
Managing partner at CIP, Jakob Baruël Poulsen, says of the appointment: “I am very pleased to welcome Martin Neubert to the CIP partnership. With his strong track record from the renewables industry, substantial offshore wind experience and deep financial market expertise he is a very strong addition to the team. He has in depth strategic and investment skills, and substantial M&A and energy project development experience. I am confident that Martin will prove to be a perfect match for CIP and will play an important role in the growth journey we have embarked upon.”
Martin Neubert will be responsible for developing the CIO area to ensure quality, consistency, and governance for CIP’s overall and rapidly growing investment portfolio across funds, geographies, and technologies.
Furthermore, he will work with strategic, long term market development across new and existing fund strategies, as well as leveraging his extensive experience with offshore wind development which constitutes a center piece in the CIP seed portfolio.
Martin Neubert says of the appointment: “I am excited to join CIP as partner and Group CIO at a crucial time in the development of the company. I have thought long and hard about my next career move and explored a number of different opportunities for CEO and other executive roles within the energy transition sector across North-West Europe. After careful considerations I have chosen to join CIP as the next right step for me. It is a very interesting and challenging new role where I can leverage and combine both my industrial and investment experiences and skills from more than 20 years within energy and private equity. I am excited to join a true partnership setup with a very entrepreneurial mindset and a true agile culture.”
Martin Neubert joins CIP no later than July 2023.
