Cable monitoring contract awarded for Coastal Virginia Wind Farm

Wind Energy – CVOW

Luna Innovations (Luna) will provide monitoring services to Dominion Energy Commercial scale coastal Virginia offshore wind (CVOW) project.

The company’s EN.SURE long-distance energy cable sensor system will be used to monitor the wind farm’s export cable system.

The Luna EN.SURE system combines fiber optic DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) and DAS (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) systems with the aim of helping Dominion ensure the constant operation of its CVOW project by measuring temperature and acoustics during the entire project can be monitored cable circuit.

The Luna system is also used to identify potential hotspots and external threats to the project, such as: B. Anchor towing from nearby vessels. The system is also designed to provide depth of cable routing information to help Dominion protect and optimize project operations.
