Top woman of Shell Netherlands Marjan van Loon is stepping down from her position from 1 April, 2023.
Frans Everts will take over her duties. He has been working for the oil group for a long time. His current responsibilities include global communications within Shell.
Everts has worked for Shell for 33 years, in a variety of roles around the world. In his new role, he says he wants to continue working on the energy transition.
Van Loon was at the helm of Shell Netherlands for seven years, working for the company for a total of 34 years. She wants to start enjoying other things in life besides work.
Van Loon experienced some turbulent years as head of Shell’s Dutch branch. In 2018, for instance, there was political outrage over an agreement between Shell and the tax authorities around paying dividend tax. Van Loon called that news at the time “incorrect” and “total nonsense”. According to her, Shell had always been transparent about this in annual reports.
